Sunday afternoon saw the grand opening of an impressive new Children’s Home Society Youth Transition Center. Donors, local dignitaries and community supporters joined staff and new residents for a brief welcoming ceremony and ribbon cutting, followed by a BBQ lunch and tours of the facility.

After two years of planning and building, the Children’s Home Society of the Treasure Coast will host a grand opening at its new housing facility in Vero Beach on Jan. 17 at 1 p.m.
The Youth Transition Center is a new facility specifically designed to house young adults, ages 18 to 23, who have aged out of the foster care system.

Misty hasn’t had a place to call home since she was 12.
A runaway for nine years who lived on the streets, Misty’s life is about to change on Sunday when the Treasure Coast Division of the Children’s Home Society opens its Youth Transition Center on 10th Street in Vero Beach.
The grand opening is set for 1 p.m. at the new facility, which is adjacent to Baines Hall on the Children’s Home Society’s Vero Beach campus.

Teen honors her slain father with foundation that aids youths

In the two short months since the death of her father, who emigrated from India and owned the store where he was killed, Nidhi Patel and her family have founded Parag Patel Foundation to promote his wish for a safer community. Nidhi Patel personally chose the Children’s Home Society of Florida Youth Transition Center as a beneficiary.
